Felt Sugar Skulls

Day of the Dead fuzzy felt.

I cut out all the shapes and the kids had fun arranging them into beautiful sugar skulls to celebrate Day of the Dead festival.

We’ve kept the felt shapes to re-use over and over again but you could use PVA glue to stick them down and make a felt collage. You could also sew some embroidery stitches over the top and add jewels and buttons.

We’ve celebrated Day of the Dead on All Saint’s Day since my mother died.

It’s a day we use to celebrate and remember her by creating sugar skulls and baking a pan de muerto.

A local cemetery has created an ofrenda during October for the last few years and we go to leave messages and photographs for our family members that are no longer with us.
