Engineering and art come together for this great drawing activity.
We finally got around to opening a Christmas present and had lots of fun experimenting with this doodling robot.
The kids weren’t that interested in assembling it so they sorted out felt tip pens while I put it together.
Once we got started the kids spent a couple of hours adding and taking away weights (blu tack), adding pens and adjusting the height as well as loosening and tightening the grip. We got lots of different effects.
You can get one of these brilliant robots on Amazon.
Our drawing robot was a Christmas present.
Putting it together. The boy and girl weren’t that interested in this part – much more fun asking me if it was ready yet every 2 minutes!
All ready to go.
The kit comes with three pens but we used our own too for lots of different coloured patterns.
The kit comes with an attachment to add more pens.
We experimented with adding and taking away a weight (blu tack) to see what it would do to the drawn lines.
Once the blu tack was out the boy and girl had fun adding even more pens…
…and it worked!

We experimented pushing the robot in different directions to get different patterns and putting the pens at different heights to see what would happen – the dotted lines came out when the robot arm was high on the pens.
