Cloud dough is soft and can be moulded into shapes, it’s a lovely tactile activity.
I dug out this recipe in the back of one of my notebooks (no idea where I got it originally).
8 parts plain flour
1 part baby oil
Try adding glitter, confetti shapes, powdered paint or spices to colour your cloud dough.
8 parts flour.
1 part baby oil. The boy wanted to add blue food colouring to see what would happen (I’d never done it before so was curious to see too).
Mix everything up with a whisk. Once it’s mixed as well as it can be with the whisk, get your hands in.

The boy couldn’t wait to get all his dinosaurs out to play.
The boy made dinosaur fossils by making imprints with toy dinos. Here’s T. rex.
The food colouring didn’t mix in very well so our mixture had blue speckles in it. The boy liked that.
Stegosaurus fossil.
We sieved out the blue speckles. It was great fun watching the cloud dough go through the sieve.
Mostly speckle free cloud dough sand castles.
We halved the cloud dough and added glitter to one half. Keep your cloud dough in a ziplock bag or Tupperware box to use again and again!
